Senator Bill Hagerty predicts the GENIUS Stablecoin Act will clear the Senate next week, marking a watershed moment for crypto regulation. The bipartisan bill, co-sponsored by Kirsten Gillibrand, aims to establish the first federal framework for payment stablecoins.

Despite failing a May 8 cloture vote with 49 opposing votes, proponents remain confident in the legislation’s momentum. The Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins Act is scheduled for debate on May 19, with supporters touting its potential to foster innovation while providing regulatory clarity.
